Accessibility Statement

Effective date: 2 May 2026

1. Our commitment

SOFTNET Technologies believes that technology should be accessible to all. We design and build our website and client deliverables with inclusion as a core requirement, not an afterthought. This statement applies to www.softnet.com.my and all associated group domains.

2. Standards we follow

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C.
  • EN 301 549: European standard for public-sector digital accessibility.
  • Section 508 (USA): Rehabilitation Act requirements for federal and federally-funded ICT.
  • Accessible ICT Policy (Malaysia): MCMC and government procurement alignment.
  • ADA Title III (USA): Public accommodation accessibility principles.
  • AODA (Ontario, Canada): Where applicable to Canadian operations.
  • Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Australia): Alignment for future Australian operations.

3. What we have implemented

  • Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are reachable and operable without a mouse. Visible focus indicators on every link, button and form field.
  • Screen-reader support: Semantic HTML5 landmarks, ARIA labels where helpful, alt text on images, and descriptive link text.
  • Colour & contrast: Text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text). Information is never conveyed by colour alone.
  • Text resizing: Content remains readable and functional when zoomed to 200% or when system font sizes are increased.
  • Motion & animation: Animations are subtle and non-essential. We respect prefers-reduced-motion and disable animations for users who request it.
  • Forms: All fields have associated labels, error messages are clear and programmatically associated, and required fields are indicated.
  • Consistent navigation: Navigation patterns are predictable across every page. Breadcrumbs are provided on inner pages.
  • Responsive design: The site is usable on screen widths from 280px (fold phones) to 4K desktops, in both portrait and landscape orientations.

4. Known limitations & workarounds

We are continuously improving. Current known areas:

  • Some AI-canvas SVG animations may not have full screen-reader descriptions. We provide text alternatives for all key content.
  • Third-party embedded content (e.g., external webinar players) is reviewed for accessibility before inclusion.
  • Legacy PDF reports are being migrated to accessible HTML formats. If you need an accessible version of a specific report, contact us.

5. Assistive technologies tested

We test with:

  • NVDA + Firefox (Windows)
  • VoiceOver + Safari (macOS, iOS)
  • TalkBack + Chrome (Android)
  • Keyboard-only navigation (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space, Escape)
  • Browser zoom (up to 200%)
  • Windows High Contrast mode

6. Feedback & assistance

8. Accessibility in our client work

We apply the same standards to client deliverables:

  • Custom software and web builds are delivered with WCAG 2.1 AA conformance reports.
  • Mobile apps follow platform accessibility guidelines (iOS VoiceOver, Android TalkBack).
  • Training materials are provided in accessible formats on request.
  • We conduct accessibility audits as a standalone service.

9. Review cycle

This statement is reviewed quarterly. Last accessibility audit: May 2026. Next scheduled audit: August 2026.
